BJP is yet to gain ground in Meghalaya: Congress

The opposition Congress has asserted that the BJP is yet to gain ground in the state as it is not being accepted by the people here.
“The people of the state of Meghalaya do not accept BJP,” Congress spokesperson and Rangsakona legislator, Zenith Sangma said.
His statement came as a reaction to the BJP gearing up for the elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), which is slated to be held on April 9.
Sangma also said people’s rejection of the saffron party could be seen in the preceding elections in the state.
The BJP is having only two MLAs, who are supporting the NPP-led MDA government.
Earlier, BJP state president Ernest Mawrie had claimed that the BJP is the right choice for the people if the GHADC is to be further strengthened for preserving their land, culture and identity.
