Once again the active cases tally has crossed 2000 mark as the state recorded yet another highest-single day spike of 423 COVID-19 cases. Now the total active cases count stands at 2,088.  Two more persons have succumbed to the viral infection taking the death toll to 54.

Today, most positive​​ cases were reported from East Khasi Hills district. Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War informed of the 423 cases, 339 are from East Khasi Hills district, 30 from Ri Bhoi district, 19 from West Garo Hills district, 11 from East Jaintia Hills district, 10 from South West Khasi Hills district, 6 from South Garo Hills district, 6 from West Jaintia Hills district, and 2 from East Garo Hills district.

It may be mentioned that today eight health workers are among those tested positive for COVID-19 which include 4 from West Jaintia Hills, 3 from South West Khasi Hills and 1 from East Khasi Hills.

Out of the 93 recovered COVID-19 patients, Dr War said, 76 are from East Jaintia Hills, 5 from Ri Bhoi, 4 from West Garo hills, 3 from North Garo Hills, 2 from South West Khasi Hills and one each from West Jaintia Hills, South West Garo Hills and East Khasi Hills.

He said 4,319 COVID-19 patients have been discharged as on date.

East Khasi Hills district tops the list of districts in positive cases with 1,542 infections, that include 35 Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces and 1,507 civilians, followed by West Garo Hills 193 and Ri Bhoi 183.

In the other districts, 41 cases are in East Jaintia Hills, 30 in South West Garo Hills, 27 in North Garo Hills, 20 in West Jaintia Hills, 14 in East Garo Hills, 13 in South West Khasi Hills, 11 in West Khasi Hills, and 9 in South Garo Hills.

“Till date, swab samples of 1,55,530 persons have been tested of which 1,50,969 were found negative,” the medical official said.

There are 43,630 entrants from outside the state, he said. The state has detected a total of 6,461 COVID-19 out of which 2088 are active cases, 4,319 recovered and 54 deaths.
