The Opposition Congress in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council is all set for wipe-out with all the 11 Congress MDCs likely to join the All India Trinamool Congress on Thursdays.
According to a party source, the joining programme is organised at Resubelpara in North Garo Hills. The programme will be attended by AITC legislators in the state.
In 2021 GHADC poll, Congress emerge as a single largest party but in eight months the party is getting wipe out after former Chief Minister and leader of opposition in Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Dr. Mukul Sangma along with 11 other Congress MLAs merged with AITC.
The Congress, which won 12 seats in this year’s GHADC elections, lost Batabari MDC Ashahel D Shira to the UDP in October. Shira defected on being denied the party ticket to contest the Rajabala by-elections. Shira unsuccessfully contested the by-poll.
