The two legislators of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) are likely to merge with the National People’s Party (NPP) ahead of the adjourned poll to the Sohiong Assembly seat.
PDF working president and Mawkynrew legislator Banteidor Lyngdoh on Thursday informed that they will discuss the issue at the right time.
When asked, Lyngdoh said that talks are there to merge with the NPP. “Talks are there to merge with the NPP and we will take a call at the right time and let you know,” he added.
The PDF has two MLAs, Lyngdoh and PDF president Gavin M Mylliem, who is also Sohra legislator.
It may be mentioned that after the return of Chief Minister Conrad Sangma this development likely to take place.
It is to be recalled that NPP won 26 seats as Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma stake claim to form MDA 2.0 Government in the state with support from 2 BJP MLAs, 2 MLAs of HSPDP and 2 independent MLAs, making it a total of 34 MLAs. Later 11 UDP MLAs and 2 PDF MLAs too joined the Government which increased the strength to 47.
However, if the PDF MLAs joins NPP the strength of the Conrad Sangma’s party will be 28. This development has surfaced at a time when political parties are busy preparing for the May 10 assembly polls in Sohiong.
