Total cases- 12,005
Two more persons have died due to COVID-19 taking the death toll in the state to 116.
50 year old Mingran D Sangma from Salmanpara, in South West Garo Hills and 58 year old Belnarine Laloo from Lawmusiang, Jowaiin West Jaintia Hills passed away on Wednesday, Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said.
Sangma was tested COVID 19 positive on being admitted at the Tura Civil Hospital on November 13. “He, however, expired on December 2nd at 6:30 pm due to Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding with Liver Mass with Oesophageal Varices,” he said.
“Laloo was tested COVID 19 positive on December 2 and was admitted to Supercare Hospital on 02-12-2020 at 7.20 PM, an hour later at 8:40 pm she passed away,” he added.
The cause of the death was due to Covid 19 Pneumonia
Meanwhile, the state has also detected 52 new positive cases, taking the number of active cases to 648 on Thursday. 87 more persons were also declared recovered on Thursday, pushing the total number of recovered patients to 11,241.
Of the new Covid 19 positive cases were 32 are from East Khasi Hills district, 12 from West Garo Hills district, 04 from Ri Bhoi district, 03 from West Jaintia Hills district and 01 from West Khasi Hills district.
So far, the state has detected a total of 12,005 COVID-19 cases out of which 648 are active cases, 11,241 recovered, and 116 deaths.
Dr War said the fatality rate due to COVID-19 is 0.96 percent.
Of the total active cases, East Khasi Hills has 367 positive cases, West Garo Hills 156, Ri Bhoi 32, East Garo Hills 27, South Garo Hills 06, South West Garo Hills 18, West Jaintia Hills 19, West Khasi Hills 9, North Garo Hills 07, East Jaintia Hills 05 and South West Khasi Hills 02.
Till date, swab samples of 2, 47,928 persons have been tested of which 2,35,923 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.
There are 66,753 entrants from outside the state.
