Prestone asks public to be calm as Govt will ensure there is no breakdown of law and order

SHILLONG, MAY 1: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday said that the government has already instructed the Director General of Police (DGP) and police force to ensure such petrol bomb attacks do not happen in the near future.

Talking to Media persons, Tynsong said the government will ensure that law prevail in the state and that nobody is allowed to take law into their own hands.

“We will not allow anybody to take the law into their own hands. Law will prevail and I already instructed very clearly to the DGP and SPs to make sure that this kind of thing should not again reoccur,” he said.

Stating that the government will not allow these things to happen, Tynsong said the government will ensure there is no breakdown of law and order.

He asked people to be cool and calm as the law and order has not totally broken down.

“Be cool and calm, I think if you say that the law and order is totally broken down its not like that,  there are incidents where the petrol bomb happen may be in 4-5-6-7 or 8 places that happened at the same time let me tell you from the police side, from the home we are on the job we make sure that people are fully safe and secure,” the Deputy Chief Minister said when asked about the sense of insecurity amongst the public after these petrol bomb attack.

Asked, Tynsong said, “Let me tell you one thing I don’t say whether KSU members or not KSU members. When we arrest any person, you need to understand one thing we strictly follow from all angles, where, how and why, then ultimately investigation starts taking place and thereafter it will go to the court and let the court ultimately decide things. So my point here is very clear I don’t say whether those people whom we already picked up or already arrested belong from KSU or from other group of people but let the law takes its own course.”

“Still I don’t believe that the petrol bomb happens because of the arrests of the members of so-called KSU. I am very sure that they also are very matured people,” Tynsong added. He said that “We will not allow these things to happen. Therefore, we will make sure that the law and order does not breakdown at all.”

Asked, Tynsong said, “Right now, we are examining (in regards to additional forces) but as I said to you we will not sleep we will make sure that the law is in order.”

Meanwhile, the deputy CM informed that advisory has been issued to all departments and offices of the government to cautious and make sure to park their vehicles in proper places.

Since April 3rd there were as many as seven petrol bomb attacks in the Khasi Jaintia Hills region including the attack on the residence of Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister, Sniawbhalang Dhar, located in Nongmynsong, Shillong and the petrol bomb attack on the  escort vehicle of retired Major General Rajesh Kumar Jha, who is holding the post of NEEPCO director (personnel).
