Family of Late Diana Dimre Ch. Marak demands Magisterial inquiry dissatisfied over police investigation

A conglomeration of as many as five organisations on Tuesday met Deputy Commissioner East Khasi Flills District, Meghalaya RM Kurbah in Shillong demanding justice for Late Diana Dimre Ch. Marak and expression of dissatisfaction over the investigation process of the same. The five organisations comprising of the GSU (CEC), FKJGP (Garo Hills Zone), ADE (Apex Comm.), AYWO (CGB) and the FAF (H.Q) while expressing apprehension that there can be a foul play in the death of Diana, has urged the Deputy Commissioner to order a magisterial inquiry into the same.

Talking to Mediapersons, Pritam Arengh President, FKJGP Garo Hills Zone, Tura alleged that there was no mention of Histopathology in the post-mortem , although they said the family members are not satisfied with the post mortem report itself. Arengh also said the DC has assured to order magisterial enquiry as demanded by the family and the organisations.

“The family as well as the clan members are dissatisfied with the post-mortem report itself, as the Medical Examiner’s opinion to the cause of death of Late. Diana Dimre Ch. Marak was concluded as Asphyxia due to hanging, however, the medical officer who conducted the post-mortem did not send any specimens for Histopathology and the clan members claim that sending specimens for Histopathology is a must for any credible autopsy report/ post-mortem report, especially if the deceased is a female as per the law.”

The family members too met the Deputy Commissioner and demanded magisterial enquiry citing foul play.

It may be mentioned that the 24 year old student, Diana Dimre Ch Marak, who hailed from Dakopgre area of Tura and was studying civil engineering at the Shillong Polytechnic in Mawlai reportedly hanged herself from the second floor window of the girls hostel.
