SHILLONG, JULY 29: The Nazareth Hospital Workers Union has expressed happiness and welcomes the Judgement of the Meghalaya High Court on Equal pay for Equal Work.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Union conveyed the heatiest congratulations to the MeECL Progressive Workers Union for having achieved success in their struggle for workers rights, which include their long years of legal battle for Equal pay for equal work.
“Such achievement will only happen when the workers are united and be consistent in their struggle for just and fair treatment to workers in every sector,” it said.
“The recent judgement by the Meghalaya High Court is a step towards achieving Justice for workers in the State. This has paved the way for workers in every sector to start talking/pushing on the matter and negotiate with management or employers for implementation of this just and established principle that every worker deserves equal pay for equal work,” it added.
The Nazareth Hospital Workers Union also hoped that the authorities in the Meghalaya Electric Energy Corporation Limited implement the judgement of the Meghalaya High Court within the time frame as specified in the Judgement.
“We call upon all workers in the State to support each other and come together to fight for common issues like living wage, security in wok places, better working conditions, affordable healthcare and education for workers and their families,” it added.
