UDP pulls out of Gambegre bye-election race: Paul

SHILLONG, AUG 6: United Democratic Party (UDP) Working President Paul Lyngdoh announced that the party will not contest the upcoming Gambegre bye-election. In an interview with Meghalaya News 24, Lyngdoh explained, “We sought a report from the Garo Hills Unit leaders today and the reports suggest that we will not be in the fray.”

 

Earlier, after the CEC meeting of the United Democratic Party (UDP) on Tuesday, UDP chief Metbah Lyngdoh said that the party has discussed the issue related to the Gambegre bye-election.

 

Speaking to Mediapersons, the UDP Chief had said, “We have accordingly decided to leave the matter to the wisdom of the leaders in the Garo Hills region. They have sought time before taking the best decision on the issue.”
