Non-transferred of salary of SSA Teachers for July irks AGHSSASTA-CB

The All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers’ Association (AGHSSASTA-CB) on Monday submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, through the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, Tura, seeking immediate intervention regarding the non-transfer of salaries for SSA Teachers for July 2024.

In the memorandum, AGHSSASTA-CB highlighted that despite the salary order being sanctioned by the SPD office SEMAM Shillong to all districts of Meghalaya over two weeks ago, the salaries have not yet been credited to the teachers’ bank accounts. This delay is attributed to the ongoing indefinite agitation by the non-teaching staff of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan in Shillong.

The association emphasized the hardships faced by SSA teachers due to this delay, which has severely impacted their ability to manage essential expenses, including family needs, electricity bills, school fees, and fuel costs for commuting to work.

The AGHSSASTA-CB urged the Chief Minister to promptly address their grievances, stating that if the situation remains unresolved and salaries are not transferred soon, teachers may be compelled to cease their duties and raise their voices in protest. The memorandum asserted, “Our Right to Life should not be interfered with by anybody, and the ongoing situation should not create problems in performing our duties. We must be allowed to continue our work without disruption.”

The association concluded by calling on the State Government to urgently resolve this matter for the welfare of the SSA teachers across the state.
