SHILLONG, AUG 28: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday said the government is examining the proposal for creation of Mawsynram civil sub-division and new district in East Khasi Hills district.
Replying in the Assembly, Tynsong said that the government is also considering proposal for creation of new community and rural development (C&RD) blocks.
“The main intention of the government (to create new district, civil sub-division and C&RD blocks) is to bring administration towards nearest location of the people,” he added.
UDP legislator from Mawsynram Ollan Suin said that Mawsynram should be granted a civil sub division taking into consideration in terms of population and location of villages in difficult terrains.
