BJP Meghalaya Launches ‘Sadysyata Abhiyan’ Membership Drive Targeting 2 Lakh New Members

Shillong, Sep 3: To fortify its base ahead of the district council polls and the Gambegre bye-elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Meghalaya has initiated the ‘Sadysyata Abhiyan’ membership drive at its state office on Bivar Road, aiming to enroll 2 lakh new members. The drive comes as part of the party’s strategy to strengthen its base further.

Speaking on the occasion, Meghalaya BJP President Rikman G Momin highlighted the party’s continuous efforts in preparation for future elections, particularly the 2028 polls. “This can be termed as preparation for the 2028 election as BJP never stops working,” Momin stated.

The launch event also featured the unveiling of a specially scripted campaign song and video, overseen by key state BJP figures, including Cabinet Minister AL Hek and Rikman G Momin.

“This membership drive is usually done every five years. Today, from the Meghalaya state, we have launched it under the leadership of our Cabinet Minister and convener AL Hek. There is a target for us—around 2 lakh new members. We will start it all over Meghalaya and reach every corner of the state,” Momin added.

He further emphasized the continuous nature of the party’s work, saying, “Yes, it is our preparation for 2028, you can say we have started, because we never stop working; there are lots of programs we do.”

The membership drive aims not only to renew the membership of existing party members but also to attract new members, adhering to the party’s constitutional requirements. Nationally, this initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the BJP’s membership campaign, which emphasizes both growth in numbers and the strengthening of the party’s ideological and democratic values.
