Gambegre by-elections on November 13, counting set on November 23

Cabinet Minister and NPP MLA from Garo Hills, Marcuise N Marak, claimed that the Congress is facing strong anti-incumbency in Gambegre due to the lack of performance by Saleng A Sangma, the Member of Parliament from Tura, who represented the constituency for the past 20 years.
According to Marak, Saleng A Sangma failed to deliver for the people, leading to this current backlash.
“Infact they are having an anti incumbency factor now, because they have the honourable MP ( Salang Sangma) who was representing the constituency for the last 20 years he didn’t do anything, so that is the anti incumbency that he is facing now, Marak said.
The Gambegre by-elections are scheduled for November 13, with counting set for November 23.
The ruling NPP has put up Chief Minister Conrad Sangma ‘s wife Mehtab Chandee A Sangma, as the official candidate of the party.
Marak also stated that the NPP is fully prepared for the by-elections, identifying TMC candidate Sadiarani M Sangma as the closest competitor.
“We are confident to win the seat, we are prepared. So far TMC candidate Sadiarani M Sangma is the nearest competitor,” he added.
The date of issuing of notification is 18th October,  last date of nomination is 25th October.
