Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Urban Affairs, Sniawbhalang Dhar, on Tuesday dismissed concerns over the shifting political dynamics marked by the rise of the Voice of the People Party (VPP), asserting that the National People’s Party (NPP) is continuously evolving and strengthening its position.
“Not to worry, we will work hard. Learning is a continuous process because MP elections are different, District Council polls are different, and MLA elections are different. In just 8-9 months, we improved our vote share,” Dhar stated.
He highlighted the party’s progress in terms of vote share, noting, “We are improving very much. In the last MP elections, VPP scored in all 29 seats, but now it’s only 17. We have improved in terms of NPP and in terms of MDA, especially in terms of vote share.”
Expressing optimism about future growth, Dhar added, “In just 8-9 months, we improved our vote share from 1.8 lakh to 2.83 lakh. Just give us another three years, and we may cover all.”
On the governance front, Dhar drew a distinction between VPP and NPP. “They (VPP) are running the District Council, and we are running the state government. We know how to run the government,” he remarked.
Concluding on a unifying note, he said, “Don’t say VPP, don’t say NPP, don’t say Congress—we are for the people of the state.”
