Rakkam  Dismisses Congress Resurgence in Meghalaya Amid Electoral Setbacks

National People’s Party (NPP) legislator from Rongara-Siju and Cabinet Minister Rakkam A. Sangma has ruled out any resurgence of the Congress in Meghalaya, citing its dismal performance in recent elections. He pointed to the party’s failure in both the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) elections and the Delhi Assembly elections, where it failed to secure a single seat.

“How much Congress got in KHADC?… zero. What happened in the Delhi Assembly elections? In Delhi also, Congress was zero, KHADC also zero. This is the testimony of their presence. Now you tell me, is their wave rising or not?” Sangma remarked.

Referring to the recent Gambegre bye-election in Garo Hills, he asserted that the results speak for themselves regarding Congress’s standing in the region. Confident in the NPP’s strategy, he emphasized the party’s preparedness for the political battlefield.

“We are the players, and we know the pitch. Is it a bowling pitch or a batting pitch? We know. We know the ground, we know the boundary, we know the political pitch of every constituency and region in the state,” The NPP leader said.
