The Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) on Monday decided to take up with the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on the need to review the job reservation policy.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the party’s CEC here.
Speaking to media persons, president of HSPDP K. P Pangniang said “In our manifesto we have incorporated the Reservation Policy and we have mentioned that if the people give the mandate to the party, we will review the policy”.
Pangniang said that due to growing demands, the party has decided to take up the matter at the level of chief minister and also in the coordination meeting of the MDA to discuss the demand to review the reservation policy.
“We will also take up the matter with the chief minister and with all partners in the MDA government to push the government to discuss or initiate talks on the reservation policy” said Pangniang.
When asked, Pangniang stated that the party will not comment on how much the percentage of reservation be given to certain communities but the party will push the state government to initiate talks to deliberate on the reservation policy which has not been reviewed for the last 50 years.
Meanwhile Party MLA from Mawshynrut constituency, Methodius Dhar who is a member of the Committee on Roster System said that he will raise the demand to review the reservation policy as well as on the roster system.
