UDP chief Metbah Lyngdoh on Friday said the party is yet to take a stand on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
Speaking to reporters, Lyngdoh said, “We will come out on what we have to say on UCC. One should understand that UCC will be of the civil laws not criminal laws. Criminal laws are completely different which is already in place but the civil laws that is what they are talking about as far as UCC is concerned.”
“You have to look at the customary lines, religious lines. So many factors are here, the Hindus Christians, Muslims – which one to adopt it is very confusing. It is very complex. It needs lots of thorough and detail discussion,” he added.
