‘Home Dept should crack down on such groups like this LRO’: Paul

Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh has said that the Legal Rights Observatory (LRO) has a very sinister agenda to brand Meghalaya as an unfriendly state.

Speaking to reporters, Lyngdoh said, “I believe that the home department should crack down on such groups like this LRO.”

“I am very clear that these groups have a very sinister agenda. The agenda means to brand Meghalaya as unfriendly and therefore to sort of discourage people from travelling to Meghalaya,” he said.

He said that the tourist inflow in Meghalaya has almost reached 15 lakhs per year. Lyngdoh said, “Seeing is believing and when these visitors come and they find that people here are friendly, cooperative and welcoming, the perception changes.”

The minister also informed that he had instructed the department through the tourism website to declare that Meghalaya is not just safe but it is the ultimate tourist destination of the country.
