The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) East Jaintia Hills District Unit will hold a sit-in-demonstration on September 25, to protest against the State government and NHAI for turning a blind eye despite the dilapidated condition of the National Highway-6, which has to a great extent affected the people of the region.
KSU said the decision on the second phase of agitation was taken after the State government and the NHAI failed to show any sign of seriousness towards the issue.
The first phase of agitation was held on August 8, 2023. During the said agitation, the NHAI technical manager had assured the Union that the authority will repair the NH-6 within 6 weeks but till date no action has been taken on the matter.
