The Postal department will open over 15 hundred Post offices in North East including 449 in Meghalaya. This was informed by the Subrat Das, Chief Post Master General.
Talking to Media, Das said with the region getting over 15 hundred new Post offices the number of post offices in the region will go up to over 4 thousand.
He said the department has started the Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras that gives boost to small traders to further promote the country’s exports.
He also said that due to its low cost structure, and simple process, the working of post offices is suitable for small and medium businesses.

Notably The Indian Postal Service (North East Postal Circle ) is celebrating the World Post Day on Monday & National Postal Week 2023 from 9th October to 13th October.
The Indian post is celebrating the World Post Day on Monday and from 10 to 13 National Postal week. While on 10 there will be Vittiya Sashakstikaran Diwas, 11 October is Philately Day, 12 October will be Mails and Parcel Say and on 13 October will be Antyodaya Diwas.
