PHE Minister Marcuise N Marak on Wednesday informed that the department has constituted a task force committee (TFC) to study and monitor the water quality supplied to Shillong city.
Speaking to reporters, Marak said, “I am happy to announce that PHE department has constituted a task force committee to study and monitor the water quality supplied in the city of Shillong. This committee will study the water quality and will make sure potable water is supplied to the Shillong city.”
The TFC will be headed by the additional chief engineer.
Marak said that the function of the task force will be to address the water quality related to complaints pertaining to water supply from GSWSS-I and II to Shillong, to collect water samples from different water sampling points both raw water and treated water under the jurisdiction for regular analysis to ensure proper dosing of chemicals and proper procedures in the water treatment plant as per CPHEO Manual and Water Quality Monitoring Protocol and quality control of chemicals.
He said that the committee will also fix the responsibility against any errant officers and staff, to propose research and development measures if need be on quality issues pertaining to water supply from GSWSS. The task force can co-opt any member as and when required.
