Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong on Tuesday said the government is waiting for the decision of the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) on the request for its top leaders to be present in the next round of peace talks.
Speaking to reporters, Tynsong said, “I will again reiterate that the state government and the central government are very firm and are very determined to continue the talk with the HNLC.”
“And we are still waiting now the communication from their (HNLC) side because since the top leaders still could not participate in the meeting so we have send them (members of the HNLC) back with a request and our request is when they are ready to please let us know as the state government and central government are open and are waiting for the next talk,” he added.
Tynsong said, “Right now the talk has officially started only once and you knew it and that also with the second rank leadership. We requested that in the second or the third meeting the top ranking people should be (present for the) talk and whatever issues you have sit down across the table then we will come out with any kind of solution whatever issues are there.”
