SHILLONG, JAN 22: Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on Monday said job examinations in the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) should be conducted within the state of Meghalaya.
Speaking to reporters, Lyngdoh said, “To my knowledge, henceforth examinations that are going to be conducted should ideally be conducted within the boundaries of the home state which is within the state of Meghalaya.”
“We have also indicated that there are enough services providers who will be able to conduct these examinations as per the requirements of NEIGRIHMS and I do not anticipate that in the next vacancy NEIGRIHMS will deviate from that because we have taken it up all the way to the highest authority which is the Department of Health, Government of India,” she said.
Asked, Lyngdoh said, “I have discussed this matter (employment issue) with the Director NEIGRIHMS and we have urged upon him to ensure that there is justification in appointment of individuals in all of these vacancies. However, NEIGRIHMS is an independent body, anybody that needs any matter to be brought to the notice of NEIGRIHMS has to give it to us in writing. The KSU has given us a document with taken it up, the chief minister has also put in a word supporting concerns of the KSU.”
