Shillong, Jan 29: Cabinet minister and BJP leader A.L Hek on Monday reiterated that though he refused to be BJP’s MP Candidate for the Shillong Parliamentary seat in both 2014 and 2019, this time in 2024 he will not refuse if given an offer.
Meanwhile, Hek informed that the party is working to finalize for the MP ticket from both Shillong and Tura parliamentary seat.
Speaking to media persons, Hek said the decision to field candidates from both parliamentary seats depends on the national BJP leaders.
“I am not saying that I am the only aspirant’s candidate from Shillong parliamentary seats but if the party insists on contesting, I will not say no this time” said Hek.
With regard to Shillong parliamentary seat, Hek informed that there are many aspirants candidates from Shillong parliamentary seat including Fenala Nonglait, Ernest Mawrie and many other aspirants who had applied for the ticket but this decision will be taken by national BJP leaders.
When asked about Tura parliamentary seat, Hek said he does not have information but it has come to his notice that there is on individual from Tura who has applied for the ticket.
“Today we are having a party meeting and in the meeting, there will be some lights about the up-coming MP election 2024” he added.
On the alleged dissent in the Meghalaya BJP, Hek said “There are no dissents in the party, we are having a new president and everyone is working for the welfare of the party, the people and the state. If you asked me, I have not heard any dissent in the party”.
