for setting up of a bottling unit to be set up at Mendipathar in North
Garo Hills.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said this is going to come up in
Mendipathar Industrial area and will help to supply pepsi and other
products in Meghalaya and in other parts of the country especially the
North Bengal.
“We have signed MoU with the Varun Beverages (Pepsi Co) which is the
holding company that runs different pepsi plants all over the country
so roughly about Rs 180 plus crores is going to be invested by Varun
Beverages for supply of pepsi and other products in Meghalaya and in
other parts of the country specially North Bengal and some other parts
of the country,” the Chief Minister said.
Stating that he will be visiting Mendipathar to officially handover
the land, Sangma said, “We expect that once that is done the process
of all the permission will start and they have assured me that they
will start the work immediately and according to their estimate again
I cannot talk on their behalf in the 12-18 months we are expecting
that they will be able to commission the plant.”
Asked he said around 25 acres of land has been given for setting up of
the bottling unit.
