Active Covid 19 cases stands at 1,019 as recovery rate continues to rise.

The state on Saturday recorded yet another highest single-day recovery of 220 COVID-19 patients even as 70 new positive cases were detected.

An 83-year-old man died of COVID-19 taking the death toll in the state to 88 on Saturday.

Heavenstone Nongrum, a resident of Riatsamthiah passed away at the Nazareth hospital on the night of October 30, Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said.

He said he was tested positive for COVID-19 on being admitted on October 22. The patient was diagnosed with HTN, CVA, CAD, Hypothyroidism.

Of 220 COVID patients, Dr. War said, 135 are from East Khasi Hills district, 64 West Garo Hills district, 8 Ri Bhoi district, 5 West Jaintia Hills district, 2 East Garo Hills district, 2 East Jaintia Hills district, 2 North Garo Hills district, 1 South West Garo Hills district, and 1 South West Khasi Hills district.

He said the new cases include 22 from East Khasi Hills, 17 Ri Bhoi, 16 West Garo Hills, 5 East Garo Hills, 4 North Garo Hills, 4 West Jaintia Hills, 1 South Garo Hills, and 1 South West Khasi Hills.

The state has detected a total of 9,452 COVID-19 out of which 1,019 are active cases, 8,345 recovered, and 88 deaths.

East Khasi Hills district tops the list of districts in positive cases with 438 infections, which include 17 Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces and 421 civilians, followed by Ri Bhoi 193 and West Garo Hills 150.

In the other districts, 72 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 55 in East Garo Hills, 51 in West Khasi Hills, 18 in East Jaintia Hills, 18 in North Garo Hills, 17 in South Garo Hills, 4 in South West Garo Hills, and 3 in South West Khasi Hills.

“Till date, swab samples of 2,02,056 persons have been tested of which 1,92,604 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.

There are 53,567 entrants from outside the state. EOM
