All India Trinamool Congress candidate and former cabinet Minister Zenith M Sangma on Wednesday filed nominations from the Tura Parliamentary seat for the upcoming Lok Sabha Election.
Sangma is the fourth candidate from Garo Hills to file his nominations. He filed nomination b before Returning Officer Jagdish Chelani, Tura.
Accompanied by his elder brother and former chief minister Mukul Sangma, who is also the leader of TMC parliamentary party, TMC MLAs Rupa Marak of Dadenggre and Mizanur Kazi of Rajabala, Trinamool MDCs from the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council and former legislators and party leaders, Zenith Sangma reached the office of Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills Tura on Wednesday afternoon.
Zenith Sangma’s wife and sitting MDC of Dengnakpara constituency in GHADC, Sadhiarani M Sangma and their son also accompanied him.

While the Tura Parliamentary seat is heading for a triangular fight, TMC’s Zenith M Sangma will contest against the incumbent MP of Tura, Agatha K Sangma, representing the NPP, and Saleng A Sangma from the Congress party.
The BJP, a constituent of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government, is supporting the National People’s Party’s (NPP) nominee Agatha Sangma for the Tura Lok Sabha seat and lone woman cabinet minister Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh (NPP) in the Conrad Sangma ministry for the Shillong seat.
So far a total of four candidates have filed their nominations for the Lok Sabha elections from the Tura Parliamentary constituency.
Wednesday was the last day of filing of nominations and the scrutiny will be on 28 (Thursday). The two seats in Meghalaya will go for the polls in the first phase on April 19.
With less than a month left for the polls, the district administration has beefed up security in West Garo Hills. The district has a total of 539 polling stations .
