AITC names Zenith Sangma as candidate for Tura seat for upcoming Lok Sabha elections

SHILLONG, MAR 12: The opposition All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) has announced the name of former Rangsakona legislator Zenith M Sangma as its candidate from the Tura parliamentary seat for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Sangma is the three time legislator from Rangsakona constituency. He won the election in 2003, 2013, and 2018.

Sangma was the sports minister of the Meghalaya assembly for the period from 2013 to 2018. Sangma is the brother of former Chief Minister of Meghalaya Mukul Sangma.

In a press statement from AITC, it is formed, “The All India Trinamool Congress under the guidance & inspiration of our Hon’ble Chairperson Smt. Mamata Banerjee is pleased to announce the name of Mr Zenith Sangma as AITC’s candidate from the Parliamentary Constituency of Tura (ST) seat in Meghalaya.”

Earlier, All India Congress Committee has fielded Saleng A Sangma and NPP has fielded Agatha Sangma for the Tura seat. The BJP, however, has yet to announce a candidate for the Tura seat.
