The All Meghalaya Dancers Association (AMDA) today expressed concern on the lack of financial assistance that the Association and the artist are getting despite being selected to compete in various singing and dancing competitions across the country.
Speaking to media persons, AMDA president Kitbok Thabah said that two dancers from Meghalaya are selected to compete in the India’s Talent Fight Season-3 but due to lack of financial assistance the association could only send one of them.
Thabah said that one singer Twinklely Grace Ïawrod from Phlangwanbroi will be representing the state in up-coming India’s Talent Fight Season-3 schedule on 31 May in Dehradun but it is saddening to see that till date there has been no assistance from the state government or even from MLAs.
Thabah urged the state government through the department of arts and culture to support the singers and dancers in the state through financial assistance especially for those who have to travel to other parts of the country.
“Even though the association from time to time mobilizes funds for the youths, the association cannot sponsor everyone to travel to different parts of the country to take part in various competitions hence we urged the state government to recognize our young dancers and singers by providing financial assistance in the future” said Thabah.
