Sanjay Goyal Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) said the power policy is in public domain as the state Government is examining the applications that were submitted under pump storage.

Talking to Meghalaya News 24, Goyal said the decision on the power policy will only be taken up after the removal of Model code of conduct which is in operation. However, since it is in public domain, the state is expecting the interest of more private players.

“We are not going ahead with the power policy, because of the Model code of conduct in operation so we will be taking up after the MCC is over. in terms of pump storage, the applications are now under the process of getting examined,” the CMD MeECL said.

“After the model code of conduct is over we will be taking action on that and apart from that the policy is now in the public domain and we are expecting that the private players wherever they are given opportunity to come and invest here, they are exploring the opportunities and as and when the proposal we will take it up and get it examined,” he added.
