Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma on Friday said the results declared for appointment of assistant teachers in government lower primary schools under Dadenggre subdivision, West Garo Hills District has been based on merits.
Speaking to reporters, Sangma said, “Result has already been declared and it is based on merit and because of that purpose, we have set up an interview panel. These candidates were declared cleared based on their performance at the interview. Because it is supreme power of the interview panel to give the marks to select based on merit.”
“Therefore, this result has been declared based on the performance of the candidates by the interview panel and no more comment on this,” he said.
Asked, Sangma said that the question of tribal and non-tribal does not arise because the posts falls under the open category or unreserved category as per the job reservation policy of the state.
Earlier, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Meghalaya had demanded immediate stay of the results and to order investigation into the alleged discrepancies in the teacher recruitment process.
