SHILLONG, JULY 23: VPP chief and legislator of Nongkrem constituency Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit on Tuesday released various work orders sanctioned from Special Rural Works Program (SRWP) and Intensive Sports and Youth Development Programme (ISYDP)
This work orders include Rs 2.50 crore from the SRWP scheme and Rs 3 lakhs from the ISYDP.
Under the SRWP scheme 2023-2024, the MLA of Nongkrem has allocated Rs 45 lakhs for 60 BPL households at Rs 75,000 per household, Rs 25,000 per 200 households for the purpose of renovation and up-gradation of their respective household, Rs 10,000 to 500 local entrepreneurs and traders, Rs 20 lakhs for Pomlakrai Presbyterian Secondary School, Pomlakrai Mawtharia, Rs 12.50 lakhs for Lumkynsai Presbyterian L.P & UP School Smit, Rs 15 lakhs for Nongkrem Presbyterian Secondary School Nongkrem Mawpynthaw, Rs 10 lakhs for St John Bosco, Laitkor Mawrie, Rs 10 lakh for HL Mizo LP School, Madanrting, Them Basuk, Rs 2.50 lakhs for the improvement of the Laitkor Football Ground, Rs 15 lakhs (First Phase) for the Mawpynthaw Football Ground and Rs 50 lakhs for the Reach Shillong Ministries School.
From the ISYDP scheme 2023-2024, the MLA has allocated Rs 50,000 each to Madanrting Sports Club, Pomlakrai Sports Club, Dongmusa Umphyrnai, Smit Sports Club, Umphrup Sports Club and Nongkrem Sports Club.
Speaking before handing over the work orders to the beneficiaries, Basaiawmoit said that as an MLA, he does not want to see the people standing in line for assistance, whether it is medicine or books.
“It is the duty of the state government to provide a quality health care system and other welfare schemes to the people, hence the VPP will continue to pursue aggressively to make sure that people do not have to stand in a long queue for assistance from their respective MLAs” said Basaiawmoit.
Basaiawmoit said that the VPP does not want to waste the money of the people which is why even in the past he always distributed the work order in front of every beneficiary.
“W have seen recently, there MLA who have proudly declared to have distributed all Rs 10 lakhs to the public but they have never explained, how they have utilized the Rs 2.50 crores as allotted by the government” he added.
While assuring to the public on the use of the MLA scheme, Basaiawmoit said “We have not misused the Rs 10 lakhs allocated by the Government known as the DG to assist the people in their urgent needs”.
He assured the public that the money will be sent directly to the bank accounts of the people who are entitled to receive various schemes.
