Around 40 million year old fossil structures unearths in South Garo Hills

The explorers of Geological Survey of India (GSI) have unearthed around 35-40 million year old fossil structures in South Garo Hills.

The Discovery was made during the Core Geo Expedition’s exploration in February this year in the remote village of Tolegre in South Garo Hills.

The village of Tolegre is about 10 kms from the famous town of Siju and is also the place where the group undertook a 3 week expedition of the subterranean parts of the area where the apparent discovery was made.

However, the exact age and species of the fossil will be determined after extraction and further examination in a laboratory by the GSI team.
