SHILLONG, JULY 2: : The AChik State Peoples’ Front (ASPF) sought the intervention of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) South Garo Hills with regard to the damages caused by continuous heavy rainfall in the district.
In a letter, the SDPF urged DC for intervention and immediate action to deter further damages and loss of the public property as well as the lives of the public in general which is at present in danger due to excessive rainfall.
“It has come to our notice that due to excessive rainfall and due to the incomplete project of Baghmara Rongara Highway, the said highway has being facing soil erosion leading to the blockage of the high way thus, creating danger to by passers (vehicles passing through this highway) and if immediate and speedy action is not taken from your end it may lead to even loss of lives in future course” said the letter to the DC.
The ASPF urged the DC to intervene in this matter and to provide some assistance in preventing further damages and future loss of life in this situation.
