Deputy Chief Minister in-charge, Home, Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday the state Governments of Assam and Meghalaya awaits for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the investigation into the November 22, 2022 Mukroh firing incident.
Talking to media in Shillong, Tynsong said the state government had already written to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) informed that both Assam and Meghalaya governments have written to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) with regard to the Mukroh firing incident.
“We have already written a letter …. in fact, from the state government and even the Assam government also they have done it. So Ball now is in the CBI court so when and How I can’t tell on their behalf,” Tynsong told reporters.
On September 30, governments of Meghalaya and Assam agreed to handed the Mukroh Firing incident to the CBI as a “confidence building measure”.
Six persons including five from Meghalaya were killed in a firing by the Assam police and forest guards at Mukroh village in West Jaintia Hills District on November 22, 2022.
