Senior BJP legislator from Meghalaya, AL Hek, on Wednesday delivered a scathing rebuke against any external interference in India’s internal affairs, making it clear that such actions would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
“Anybody talking against the Nation cannot be tolerated. Anybody. That also people from outside, the people from inside also cannot be tolerated, how can we tolerate people from outside? We cannot tolerate,” Hek declared, reinforcing India’s firm stance on sovereignty.
His remarks were a direct response to a contentious statement by Bangladesh’s interim government’s Chief Adviser, Mohammad Yunus, which has sparked political outrage.
Yunus, during his recent visit to China, suggested that Beijing should expand its operations into India’s Northeast to gain access to the sea via Bangladesh.
“May be North East or any part of the country, it is the duty of our country only to look after the welfare of the states and also the citizens. We will not allow any outside force to interfere with the matters of our country, similarly, North East. We are living peacefully and if there is any problem from any external force then only we will write to the centre, but as of now there is nothing such,” Hek asserted.
Yunus, leading Bangladesh’s interim government is seeking to attract Chinese investment to his country. He described Bangladesh as the “only guardian of the ocean” and suggested China could utilize it as a strategic gateway for economic expansion. His reference to the “landlocked” nature of Indian states during his visit to China has raised serious concerns and drawn sharp reactions.
