BJP on Monday fires salvo at Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui alleging the home minister is unable to discharge his duties. BJP national secretary, Rituraj Sinha has also demanded the resignation of the State Home Minister.
While the party goes soft on Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and NPP, the latest target seems to be UDP.
Talking to reporters, Sinha said, “The Home Minister of the state, hails from UDP, he is from Jaintia region, the way the police is managed in Meghalaya with everything centered around Shillong and not adequate support for the people in the interior areas, I think it is time for the home minister to take some responsibility, he should resign, because he is been unable to discharge his duties.”
The BJP leader questioned the manner the police is being managed in Meghalaya with everything centred around Shillong and not adequate police support and protection are provided for the people in interior areas.
Asked if the Government has failed, he said “I think law and order is part of the governance it is an essential part of the governance, the home minister is responsible for that department. I will be very specific this is the job of the home minister.”
Meanwhile, the BJP National Secretary also informed that a party delegation led by Meghalaya state president, Ernest Mawrie will meet Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma on November 30 to discuss on the Mukroh shooting incident which led to death of six people and left two people injured on November 22.
“We believe if the neighbouring state Assam State police have acted out of line, judicial enquiry has already been constituted; we are appealing to the CM of Assam our BJP leader and a delegation led by Mr. Mawrie is going to meet him on 30th November to present our case and say that if Assam police have acted out of line strongest action should be taken,” he said.
While addressing a press conference at the party office here on Monday, he urged Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma to provide one government job to each of families who have lost a family member in the Mukroh incident.
Asked, he further said, “We humbly request all people that violence is not going to be a solution to any problem , attacking outsiders, stopping roads is not going to solve the issue, we need to sit down across the table and talk and we will try our best that BJP is not fully in power we are just small ally in the coalition, we will fully try to support the Government of Meghalaya and Government of Assam to come together and solve the people’s problem.”
