BJP is the “biggest polluter” of Indian democracy: Congress

AICC senior observer for the three Northeastern states Meghalaya, Tripura and Nagaland and Rajya Sabha MP Mukul Wasnik on Friday accused the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) as the “biggest polluter” of Indian democracy. Accusing BJP for ‘Horse Trading’ post election, the Congress leader said the saffron party is the threat to democracy.

Congress which emerged as single largest party in 2018 election couldn’t form government in the state.

“I think BJP has polluted Indian democracy like anything and that is threat to our democracy. I think BJP has decided to field their candidates in Meghalaya , its their right as a political party but I want to say they are the biggest pollutant in Indian Democracy,” Washnik said.

Accusing BJP of buying MLAs and threatening the legislators who are not winging to be with them, the Congress leader alleged, “Their (BJP) type of politics has been if they get majority in elections well and good they will form the Government, if they don’t get the majority, they will try and buy MLAs from other parties. Not only buying MLAs but also threatening MLAs and also by all means they will try to get majority, that we have seen.”

He criticized the BJP for the political dramas in Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

The Rajya Sabha member also slammed the NPP led MDA  Government in the state and said, “There are many shortcoming which we see in Meghalaya today with the present Government, I don’t think their performance have been upto the mark.”

Asserting that the promises made by the ruling parties remained unfulfilled, the AICC leader said, “I don’t think what they have promised in the previous election they have fulfilled those promises. ”

“Therefore, what promises they will be making now will not carry much weight before the electorate, people are not going to get be-fooled again and again,” he added.
