Speculation is growing over a possible reshuffle in the Meghalaya cabinet, with reports suggesting that BJP legislator Sanbor Shullai may replace senior BJP leader and Cabinet Minister AL Hek. Sources indicate that Chief Minister Conrad Sangma could undertake a minor cabinet reshuffle in September.
When asked about the possible change, Hek maintained that he would abide by the party’s decision. “That you have to ask from the state president of BJP and the party. I will not be able to tell you. It’s purely whatever the party decides, we obey by the party decision,” he said.
Addressing BJP’s performance in the recent district council elections, Hek asserted that electoral outcomes depend on the people’s choice. “This is the choice of the people. We have put our own candidate, we have asked the candidate to contest election. If they cannot make it, then it is the choice of the people,” he stated. Expressing confidence in BJP’s long-term prospects, he added, “The way our honourable Prime Minister is working, the way BJP is working in the Centre, people will realize one day—if not now, then one day they will realize the commitment given by the BJP.”
