Bryan Adams’ Shillong Concert Sparks Excitement; Schools Declared Holiday

Shillong, December 9: The Meghalaya government has declared a holiday for all schools in Shillong on Tuesday as the city gears up for Canadian rock legend Bryan Adams’ much-anticipated concert at the Polo Grounds. The event marks the launch of Adams’ five-city India tour, which kicks off at the JN Stadium on December 10.
The concert has generated a wave of enthusiasm, with thousands of fans expected to pour in from Meghalaya and neighboring states, including Assam, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh. In response to the expected influx and to ease traffic congestion, the Directorate of School Education & Literacy announced the school holiday following a request from the State Tourism Department.
Adams arrived in Shillong earlier today and is set to take the stage tomorrow, promising an unforgettable experience for music lovers. Following Shillong, the rock icon will continue his India tour with performances in Gurugram, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, making it a monumental event for fans nationwide.
Sharing the excitement, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said, “It’s a great moment, and I think I’m not the only person who is excited about the concert. I am sure that thousands of fans—and almost everybody in this room—have grown up listening to Bryan Adams. So we are super excited and really looking forward. I’m sure it’s going to be a night to remember and a very, very memorable one.”
As Shillong prepares to host the iconic musician, the city is abuzz with anticipation, marking the event as a cultural milestone for the region.
