Shillong, Sept 5 – A Sector Commander-level coordination meeting between the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) was held on 5th September 2024, near the Barsora Land Customs Station in Bangladesh. The meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral relations, improve coordination, and address various border-related issues.
The BSF delegation was led by Manoj Kumar Barnwal, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Sector HQ BSF Shillong, while the BGB delegation was headed by Md. Saiful Islam Chowdhury, Deputy Director General and Sector Commander BGB, Sylhet, Bangladesh.
During the meeting, commanders from both border guarding forces discussed various issues, including the Coordinated Border Management Plan (CBMP) and other topics of mutual interest. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the productive and cordial discussions, which reflected the friendly bilateral ties between India and Bangladesh. The commanders reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a secure and peaceful border environment and lauded the efforts of their respective forces in preserving tranquility in the region.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties agreeing to hold regular coordination meetings in the future to ensure ongoing cooperation and smooth functioning of border management operations
