In a significant operation along the India-Bangladesh border, the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya on Saturday evening intercepted four mini-trucks loaded with contraband items worth ₹28 lakh in the East Khasi Hills district and apprehended one Indian national involved in the illegal activity.
A BSF official on Sunday detailed the seized items, stating, “The confiscated goods included zeera, liquor, tea, fish, dry fish, soap, garlic, panipuri, blankets, and other items intended for smuggling into Bangladesh. The apprehended individual and the seized goods have been handed over to customs authorities for further legal proceedings.”
The operation underscores the BSF’s relentless commitment to safeguarding India’s borders and curbing cross-border illegal activities, including smuggling and infiltration.
