Cabinet approves Meghalaya Mental Health and Social Care Policy

​Meghalaya on Tuesday became the third state in the country to have a Mental Health Policy of its own as the cabinet approved the Meghalaya Mental Health and Social Care Policy.

Briefing reporters after the cabinet meeting, the chief minister Conrad Sangma said this policy will ensure proper attention to mental health especially for children, adolescents and youth.

“The approval of the Meghalaya Mental Health and Social Care Policy , this ofcourse is a very important policy,” the Chief Minister said.

“As a state and the Government we strongly feel that Mental health issues are usually neglected, and hence a comprehensive policy was required to address this issue,” he added.

He further informed that this issue is vast as it covers the different aspects of individual’s lives and issues concerning mental health.
