The state cabinet has decided to fix the age limit of any chairman to be appointed by the government.
The amendment in this regard will be placed in the Assembly.
The state cabinet on Wednesday has approved the Meghalaya Farmers’ Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2020.
Addressing media persons, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said the amendment is related to the age of the chairman of the commission.
“Now we incorporated one more proposal and that is the age limit of any chairman to be appointed by the government should not be more than 65 years,” Tynsong said.
According to him, this is because the Act has only mentioned the tenure of the chairman which is for five years.
The state Cabinet on Wednesday approved the extension of the contractual appointment of the Secretary to the Meghalaya State Consumers’ Dispute Redressal Commission by another one year.
Addressing media persons, Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong said that the department has proposed to extend the contractual appointment of HN Areng, Secretary of the Commission for one more year adding this was approved by the cabinet.
