Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma is set to visit the flood-affected areas of Dalu, Atisia Songmong, and nearby regions on Tuesday. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) Meghalaya has confirmed the visit, during which Sangma will meet with the families of the deceased in West and South Garo Hills.
During the visit, Sangma will meet with the families of those who lost their lives due to the floods, offering condolences and ensuring that immediate relief is provided.
Accompanied by ministers, MLAs, and senior government officials, the Chief Minister will also inspect relief camps to ensure proper aid is being distributed to those displaced by the disaster. A review meeting with the district administration will be conducted to evaluate the extent of the damage to both life and property and to coordinate ongoing restoration efforts.
Sangma has directed the administration to expedite the release of ex-gratia payments to the families of the deceased, ensuring timely financial assistance. The government has pledged comprehensive relief and rehabilitation measures for those affected, and restoration works are already in progress. The Chief Minister’s visit underscores the state’s commitment to supporting the affected communities and ensuring that all necessary relief measures are implemented effectively.
