CM assures to take up with Union Education Minister timely releasing salary of SSA teachers

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday assured to take up with the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for timely releasing the salary of the SSA teachers.

“Definitely I will be mentioning it to him (Pradhan) but we have been taking up the issue with the Centre to ensure funds are released on time in order to give salary to SSA teachers on time,” Sangma told reporters.

According to him, almost 80 percent of the fund comes from the Centre for implementation of the SSA programme in the state.

And whenever the Centre cannot release the money on time for SSA teachers, a problem is being faced by the state government, he said adding “these are concerns we have raised time and again with the Government of India and we will continue to raise the issue to ensure timely release of the funds.”

Meanwhile, the chief minister maintained that there is no problem when it comes to salary of the teachers in the government and government aided schools and colleges as Rs 1,400 crore per year is being given by the state government on time.
