Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday attended the Community Market Programme organized by the Meghalaya Entrepreneurs Society for Community Markets at All Saints Hall, Shillong.
A total of 49 entrepreneurs participated in the event and showcased their products. The Chief Minister handed over a cheque amounting to Rs. 1,99,800 to the society for taking the initiative to organise such an event.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sangma said that the government is committed to promoting entrepreneurial activities, and events of this nature will foster an ecosystem that motivates youth to start entrepreneurial initiatives.
Sangma said such a program allows all entrepreneurs at any level to be able to come and showcase what they’re doing and convert what they’re doing into a source of income and livelihood for themselves and for their family.
He said “Every year almost 70 thousand youngsters join the workforce and this number is going up while the government jobs are limited, so therefore, the only way to move forward is to be entrepreneurs.”
The CM also spoke about the CM Elevate program and the benefits it will provide to the entrepreneurs in the state.
