CM to meet Governor on ILP, MRSSA issue on Wednesday

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma will meet Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik on Wednesday to discuss about the Inner line Permit (ILP) in the state and also about Meghalaya Resident Safety and Security Act.
The Chief Minister will be accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong and Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh.
Informing about his scheduled meeting, CM Sangma said, “I have an appointment with him (Governor) at 5 pm on Wednesday and I will be accompanied by the speaker Metbah Lyngdoh and the Deputy CM Prestone Tynsong , we will be discussing various matters including this (ILP) issue, MRSSA, and other aspects.”
“Let us see how the meeting goes tomorrow and once that is done the picture will be clear,” he added.
Asked about the Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organizations (CoMSO) meeting with the Governor where the later assured the anti influx groups that he along with the chief minister will go to Delhi soon to meet the Union home minister Amit Shah and urge the centre the need to implement ILP in Meghalaya, the CM said, “He has expressed to me also that he likes to work for the interest of the people and the state and take up issues that are for the interest of the state. Regarding going to Delhi, if he wants me to accompany him, I will accompany him.”
As the State Government continues to pursue the matter with the centre, Conrad Sangma assured that the Centre is examining the matter.
He said, “The govt of India is examining that, the governor of Meghalaya has also understood the different need and the requirement of the people of the state, so also as the conscious decision from his end to work along with the people of the state to try and move in this aspect. “
As the agitation by anti influx groups continues demanding immediate implementation of ILP in the state, the Chief Minister reminded, “We have been very clear from day one, that we have passed a resolution unanimously in the Assembly, it is definitely the demand that we have been putting up with the centre. “
