Union Minister for Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday said that colleges affiliated to North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) will not be part of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) process.

Pradhan told reporters that the state run colleges will continue to be affiliated to NEHU till Meghalaya has its own state university.

“My friend, the chief minister, told me they are arranging something for a state university. (Therefore), as long as the Government of Meghalaya desires, they can continue to be affiliated to NEHU but they will not be part of the CUET process in future also,” he assured.

On May 12, the Centre had granted exemption to all the affiliated colleges of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) from the CUET.
