SHILLONG, AUG 7: Cabinet minister and MLA of Phulbari constituency AT Mondal said that the completion of the Dhubri – Phulbari Bridge will bring out a lot of economic activities in the state particularly in Garo Hills besides reducing the distance of traveling.
Speaking to media persons, Mondal said “The work on the Phulbari Bridge is going in full swing, at a very good speed and we expect that it will be completed within the stipulated time”.
Mondal said that the completion of the bridge will be opened up and this will be the only route to reach to the mainland through the western part of the state.
The length of the bridge is 19.3 km, starting at Phulbari and ending at Phulbari Assam and it will be completed by 2027-2028.
“This will immensely benefit the entire state, especially Garo Hills region, so we expect a lot of economic activities after the bridge opens and it will reduce travel distance to the western part of the state, towards the mainland of the country” he added.
Mondal informed that the bridge is the connecting component of national highway 127 b which originates from Srirampur Assam border of West Bengal and ends at Nongstoin West Khasi Hills Meghalaya.
“So naturally, leaving aside the bridge, the road will be a very big factor as far as Meghalaya is concern” he added.
